My 2 cents worth on the Gay Issue
Posted by: miniaturz

Firstly, I'm a Christian. Secondly, I have nothing against Gays.

Leviticus 18 : 22 "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind : it is abomination"

I believe every individual has their rights to choose. If the gays wants to practice homosexuality, that is their right to choose. However, the Christians have a right to believe what is taught in their faith as well. This whole issue would not have appeared if Rev. Ou was in another faith, not with the Christians anyway. But the fact that he IS a Christian preaching for the tolerance of homosexuality which is contradicting strongly to what is written in the Bible, so how can you expect any Christian to accept it? Of course, there are many of you who views this objection as a prejudiced or biased view against the gays, but can you expect the Christians to sit back and say nothing about this when people are attacking their beliefs?

This is NOT an issue about Gay rights. This is an issue about a Christian preaching something that is contradicting to what is being taught to other Christians.

So for those of you who are fighting for gays to be accepted into the community, I would not say that is not within your right to do so. But do not fight this battle using a faith which is not yours, to be the battleground. You are ever ready to criticize the Christians for their "bias" views, but have you considered that the Christians "rights to believe" have been violated as well in this case?

Err... Some of us are Christians too. Just that we have read the bible and there isn't anything against homosexuality in it. By faith they may be given eternal life, not by faith they may be given eternal life IF they are straight.
miniaturz,

I standby you!!!!
On the Gay issue, way to go, fellow Christian!
Agreed that Christians be bold enough to speak up for the "right to believe" the truth that is written in the Holy Bible. We as Christians, are taught in the Bible that we are to love one another as God loves people. However, we are not to condone or support any sinful activity. A homosexual relationship is a sinful behaviour. One may call it by any other name or way, it is still a sin.
Response to "theseeker"

"Just that we have read the bible and there isn't anything against homosexuality in it."

I'm not really sure who the "we" you are referring to, because Leviticus 18:22 specifically mention that having sex with the same gender is strictly prohibited. And before you start arguing that the word "homosexuality" is not found in the Bible, please ask yourself if the word "homosexuality" existed in that time era? Duhhhh?

For someone who claims that the Christians are biased against gay, it look more as if to me that you are biased against the Christians for some reason. Does it make you more righteous than other fellow Christians if you are fighting for the rights of gay?

Please read your bible throughly before you come up with such statements like "there isn't anything in the Bible against homosexuality". If you want, we can have experts read several different Bible text on that particular verse and let them decide what it means.

You call yourself a Christian but your motives are questionable at the very least. Any chance that you are Gay yourself?

I am by no means free from sin but at least I am not a hypocrite infront of God.

And again, I say I have nothing against gays. I just have to make my stand where Christian preachers themselves are advocating a practice which to me and many other Christians finds to be against the word of God.
