Traffic & transportation
Just imagine, one stop for a five hour journey! As the Chinese saying goes, " A person has three serious urges".
These refer to matters regarding the call of nature - nothing sexual! And they never allow you to pick a convenient time!
So, one must imagine the exquisite torture that one may have to endure while holding back the urge to urinate or defecate for hours! If the urge is on - early in the trip !
Shouldn't the bus companies make it a wee bit more comfortable by installing toilets for the passengers? Or the MOT should do something to make sure that they do?
If airplanes can have them for the hundreds of passengers per flight, why can't a bus with around twenty passengers do the same?
The clock says the train will arrive in Bandar Tasek Selatan station in a couple of minutes. I am still struggling to catch my breath from the rush of switching from the LRT to the KTM station which, thank god, were just beside each other. What a relief to find that I was just in time!
The waiting passangers are craning their heads, tired feet firmly behind the yellow line, to catch a glimpse of the elusive streak of yellow and blue in the distance . I begin to feel traces of a frown wrinkling my forehead. It's now 30 minutes past the expected arrival time.
In the time we've been patiently waiting, 3 ERL coaches have come and gone. 5 LRT trains have whizzed past us, giving us false hope of the KTM's arrival each time we hear the grumble of their approaching wheels on the tracks.
My confidence at getting a spot on the train slowly dwindles as the waiting crowd triples in number. When the train finally arrives, the crowd turns into a heaving mass of a single minded frenzied entity. No one gets away from being knocked around our jabbed by elbows, and the ever present shoulder, hand and hip shove into the train. Even people who have a mind to que up change their minds as quick as the crowd who swoop to the doors the instant they screetch to a halt. The selfish crowd don't even notice a mother crying out not to squish her son who is caught in between them. It is at these moments that I wonder if we were ever civilized to start with.
I wonder if as a Malaysian citizen, will I be subject to this kind of torture until the day I retire from a 9-5 job? I wonder if KTM will ever improve its services? I wonder if I will ever see a day where we finally realize the importance of queing up and not being selfish. I just wonder...
My family and i just took a bus ride to Singapore few weeks ago and the service of that bus company is totally gross and IRRESPONSIBLE! When we reached the custom in Singapore at around 2am, we had to fill in some forms in the custom office and it took us a few minutes. We did it as fast as possible and as I remember we stayed on for 10 minutes. Whenwe came out the bus is gone! Luckily there was another bus from the same company stopped and we managed to get on the bus and we arrived at the bus station safely. And we saw the previous bus driver was already bathed, wearing a sarong at the station is was ready to sleep! At first, we thought the driver didnt know there was some passangers didnt get back to the bus and leave the custom so we didnt think much.
In the journey back to Malaysia, the samething happened to some passangers on the same bus. There were two old woman with two kids filling in the forms at the custom and hadn'tback to the bus when the driver was ready to leave. My dad tried to tell the driver that there were some passangers still n the custon office and showed him their jackets still on the bus But the driver pretebd like he didnt hear it and just leave without a single word! Could you guys imagine how horrifying and helpless two woman carrying two kids being left behind and with some of their stuffs still on the bus?! Perhaps they will not be so lucky as us to get on another bus to reach our destnation. Is that the service a consumer get paying paying for the tickets?! When we asked around we realised that this thing happened to many people but they didn't think of complaining and fight for their right as a consumer! These irresponsible bus drivers are totally ruining our country's reputation especially to the foreign passangers. When our government is telling the world about how efficient and good service our country's transportation is to attract the foreign tourist, this irresponsible bus company and drivers are just ruining our "perfect tranaportation system".
I sincerely hope the authorities will concern about this problem as bus is the major transport between Singapore and Malaysia.
This morning I was late for work so as many students using OKR to PJ Jalan Templer. This is due to road works by NPE. What kind of planning does NPE closing the road toward PJ during rush morning hour? How can we explain to our immediate bosses and school disciplinary teacher that this is not our fault but bad planning by NPE? NPE we need your reasoning for this morning massive jam.
NPE - No Planning Excecuted
I would also like to contribute my piece.
Many of us must have noticed public buses parked along the main thoroughfares, especially near shops and eateries. Invariably, the engines are switched on and the exhausts will be emitting noxious smoke.
Why must they be waiting for passengers with their engines on? In fact, they shouldn't stop at all! They should just drop and/or pick up passengers and be off!
This will definitely reduce the high incidence of pollution being concentrated in one spot because there could be a few buses doing the same thing.
I once asked a shopkeeper why she didn't tell the bus driver who parked in front of her shop to switch off the engine. And she said that she did. But instead of switching off the engine, the driver stepped on the accelerator to cause more smoke to belch out!!!
This is understandable because we are living in a country with no laws; or rather, the laws are not enforced at all.
It all boils down to the same thing, isn't it?
