NETWORK COVERAGE PROBLEM?
Posted by: henryz, 22-Jan-2010

Did anyone of you experience line disconnect out of sudden?

Did anyone of you experience line interruption as you cant hear your friend or your friend cant hear you?

Did anyone of you experience a difficulty calling out?

It happens to me since middle of last year and yet it happens till today.

I make a complain to the customer service and they claim my phone problem

Without thinking, I replaced my phone and the problem yet to solve and now the customer service claim the network issue and will solve as soon as possible. Of course anger in my heart as I am just an Idiot to listen them; complain to them and they just can say sorry for what had happen, anyway it was also my fault to take thing lightly for granted.

Month by month had passed and the problem still persist and getting worse and worse where error happens every day.

Complain by complain and they claim that it only happen to you area where having some coverage problem

Whether is truth or false also not sure.

I had enough and fed up with the services as they are not taking responsibility.

It is very unfortunate that I cannot change my phone number as it important to keep my number because of the number is important for some reason.

Thinking of changing to other network using the same number sound quite troublesome for me from friends experience. Partly in the concern, whether the same situation could happen.

MAXIS your were the best coverage during old time; please do something before you lose all your customer

Anyone experience the same problem?

Streamyx Customer Call Services Need To Be Improved
Posted by: jinggle, 26-Dec-2009
I was very glad that my sister informed me that my home in Ipoh has internet access after the Streamyx technician set up the TM new 2-in-1 modem with router yesterday.

Unfortunately, when me and another sister return home from KL today, we faced a problem. All 3 laptops connected to the router with good signal strength, but only 1 laptop can surf the net. The rest could not even login to the DSL Router web to check on the status.

I immediately called TM customer service around 8.45pm today, the customer service officer is Mr K. He mentioned that the problem was not from Streamyx, it's my device problem. When I asked whether is it the modem & router problem which  from TM which we just received yesterday, he couldn't answer. He continously mentioned that it's the device problem which he did not mentioned which device. If he means it's our laptops' wireless problem, then we shouldn't be able to connect to the router at all.

Mr K said it is not a Streamyx problem and he could not fix it. He asked me to get a "computer guy" to fix the problem. But at this hour, when I needed the internet urgently, how am I be able to find a "computer guy". I requested him to try to solve the problem, he only kept saying it is not Streamyx problem and he could not do anything. After about 10 minutes without getting any answer from him, I requested to speak to his manager. He mentioned that his manager was engaged. When asked for the manager's name, he could not provide me any at first. After insisting to get the problem sovled and to get a manager's name, instead of a manager's name, he gave me the technician's name that fixed the line for us yesterday. But he said that we could only get the technician tomorrow or most likely on Monday.

I was totally not pleased by his answers as I could not get the problem solved. After questioning a few more times, he hesitately gave me the name of the manger on duty which is Mr A. I know I will not get any solutions from Mr K after talking to him for about 25 - 30 minutes. I am very upset that we could not share the line but we are paying RM110 for the phone line plus Streamyx every month.

I believe TM or Streamyx management is more understanding and caring which will listen to our problems. As our country is moving into an information era, we should have a better broadband services and well-trained technicians that will answer the end-users enquiries and not pushing back the responsibilities and questions back to the end-users. I really hope that TM or Streamyx will really look into this matter as it will affect our country's reputation if it is a foreigner that is calling to the customer service like me.
Broadband Nightmare With P1Wimax
Posted by: japhethic, 17-Dec-2009

I have terminated my P1Wimax servce 50 days ago, returned the modem, promised a refund within 45 days. However, absolutely nothing have come out of it.

I spend hundreds of ringgit with cellphone calls to get Wimax operating for 3 months after it failed within one week of service(again-fancy ads promises and sales before coverage-sweet talk into signing). When you phone technical dept, they make you wait indefinitely with no solution or make you terminate your line after very long wait - tactic to discourage phoning. Huge cellphone bills.

Numerous emails were never replied. Customer service DEAD-staff don't know to do or too lazy?. Now after 50 days, rather than a refund, they silently sent me another bill - though service has been terminated. P1Wimax, your top management need to get your staff working. Your efficiency are in question. Your Penang Queensbay office has no phone contact bcos the receiver is always set aside so that no call will go in and the no. is never listed and is this is a nationwide policy? So much for customer service.

Please wake P1Wimax, you are SUPER SLOW. I want my refund fast and your goodwill gesture, if you know what I mean.

"POTONG" YES OR NO
Posted by: royleeken9638, 10-Dec-2009

Goodness gracious! I was stunned, angry, disappointed and worst words just can’t describe my sadness.  My P1 Wimax was down since Sunday evening and I can’t even log in to the net.  I have been subscribing to P1 since February 2009 and worst still the advertisement that was so well known and publicized and asking every subscribers to terminate their existing internet service provider (ISP) and subscribed to P1 Wimax was completely a failure. The connection was totally down and the computer plays a part of my life.  How can a internet service provider who advertised asking the many millions of internet users to ‘POTONG’ their existing provider and subscribe to P1 WIMAX which is so lousy and inefficient.  Having called them and the answer they gave was there are a lot of users and they advised us to switch on the modem in the wee hours of morning even though we are not using.  Is this what you called problem solving????

I am deeply regretting as the last internet service provider I used was Streamyx and they don’t have such problems at all.  Unless P1 WIMAX give me an appropriate answer and solutions to rectify the problems we will stop using P1 WIMAX.

Lastly I can accept it if the connection is bad for a day but obviously not for the continuing 4 days. and it is still not rectified and I think P1 WIMAX owe me an explanation.

This message goes out to all the ISPs out there:

PLEASE DON'T LEAVE YOUR CUSTOMERS IN THE DARK.

Personally in my opinion, if your network is down, inform the customers first before they knows about it. I know network will have hundreds(probably thousands) of issues, but customers who are paying for a service should know when the service is not available or won't be available for a certain period, and the right way of doing it is to get in TOUCH WITH THE CUSTOMERS.

Do you have similar experiences to be shared over here? Anything about Wimax and Streamyx ’s comment.

The Lizard has Landed

The lizard (Geeko) has landed: openSUSE 11.2

openSUSE Geeko Icon

Today, my post will be completely different.

It will serve to spread the word that the latest version of the most user-friendly open-source operating software for Intel and AMD powered desktops, notebooks and netbooks is now available.

Open-source means that the underlying computer code is available to anyone who wold like to examine, utilise or contribute to its development for the good of the code ignorant masses like me.

Open-source means that it will be continuously developed to make it even more useful, stable and user friendly as time goes by. The current major upgrade cycle is 12 monthly, with updates released at least once every week.

Open-source means that it is free, not only in terms of monetary cost, but more importantly. in terms that you are free to legally share it with family and friends if you find it useful, free to contribute to the code and feel free to make as many copies as you like legally for sharing.

Open-source means that it has "Copy-Left" intellectual protection. This means that any and every change or improvement in the software code must be made available to everyone and pass-on covered by the same license. This is known as the "GNU General Public License". See:

http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html

This is true freedom in terms of computer software.

As you will see from the following screen shots, openSUSE uses the "Graphics User Interface", just like Apple and Windows operating systems.

Like Windows Vista and Windows 7 and the Apple Leopard operating systems, it also supports widgets among many other features.

Unlike Windows and Apple operating systems, openSUSE 11.2, comes complete with all the Office, Web-Browsing, Multi-media and Communications software that you'll ever need. You can Twitter, Skype, Facebook and the lot.

These packages are the equivalent of the commercial software that you pay hundreds/ thousands of Ringgit for. They do everything you would expect from them as well. For example, Open-Office is able to soft in Microsoft Office formats (doc, ppt, etc). It is also able to open and edit these files as well.

Firefox is the equivalent of Internet Explorer or Safari.

YaST is the equivalent of the "Add/Remove" application in Windows, but much more user friendly and powerful.

Last but not least, because of the open-source nature, it is extremely stable and secure. Bugs are fixed quickly and updates are much more frequent than Windows Update service. Also, it is secure by design, with integrated SE Linus and AppArmor built in. It also has a firewall built-in and pre-configure so you are protected from the word go.

Hardware driver support is built-in and you will be amazed at how quickly they are installed automatically. It is truly plug and play.

Languages wise, it supports Chinese, Indonesian, Punjabi, Telegu, Tamil and Bengali in addition to English and many more of the main languages in the world. And yes, it is available for free.

Interested?

Then try it for yourself.

openSUSE is so efficient that you can easily run it on any laptop, notebook or desktop that is 5 years old or less.

It doesn't need much ram or processing power and you will be amazed as to why you had to keep buying a new computer every other year until now.

The "Live CD" version can be downloaded as an "ISO" file and then burn to a CD. From this CD, you can boot-up your notebook/desktop with it by pressing "F12" during the start-up process. This will give you the option to select "Boot with CD-Rom".

That is all you have to do.

The Live CD will load openSUSE into RAM memory and run it from there. You DO NOT have to install it to test drive the software. Just choose "Launch Live CD" at the start-up menu. That is all you have to do.

When you are finished trying it out, just choose "Restart computer" and it will automatically shut down and eject the CD at the end. There will be no changes to your system unless you specifically and intentionally do so.

Any files you want to save must be saved to a USB Key or external hard drive etc as RAM memory is volatile and will be automatically erased on shut down.

All the configuration that you changed when running off the Live CD will also only be transient as well. However, there is a way to save them to a external disk or USB key for the next Live CD session.

I recommend downloading the Live CD ISO file because it is much smaller in size and hence, much faster to download.

Furthermore, you can use it to install openSUSE as well as it contains all the basic installation files and programs to get you started.

Once you are up and running, even from the Live CD, you can connect and surf the Internet immediately with a LAN cable connection to your router or broadband modem.

You can use the full Open Office suite immediately and all the other applications will be there in the Live CD boot-up system as well.

There are two different flavours of the desktop interface to choose from.

KDE and Gnome.

KDE is very graphics intensive and hence very pretty. GNOME chooses the simplicity path and hence will run much faster on very old computers but is also pleasing in a simple kind of way.

Why am I doing this?

Because I believe in community projects and that this is the future for software development. Because I believe in sharing a good thing. Because the best things in life are free.

Enjoy!!!

ps The gecko lizard is the mascot for openSUSE.

First Start-up Introduction Screen

This is the introduction screen on first boot-up. The desktop interface is called "KDE", which stands for K-Desktop Environment.

Novell is the commercial company supporting this community project and provides a "Enterprise" version of the software for companies with technical support.

Start Menu

This is a screen shot of the "Start Menu". As you can see, it provides the same way of navigation as in Windows. The programs are all automatically installed and done very quickly.

Live CD boots in minutes to a full operating system with all the applications ready for use.

You will be amazed.
